Bad Hersfeld and Gießen pass by along the way before the road drops through the Wetterau into the Rhine-Main area. It is a scenic run — the Thuringian Forest behind you, the Rhön hills to the left — and an uneventful one, provided the A 5 between Gießen and the Bad Homburg interchange behaves.
