Frankfurt Airport pickup & drop-off service

A feeder run takes you from your address to the terminal; a pickup service brings you back again — the same journey with the ends swapped, both at a fixed price. This page describes the trip from your front door: when you need to leave, what the price includes, and why an exact address is worth more at four in the morning than any amount of buffer time.

In three steps

How it works

  1. 01 Address & flight

Outbound: address and departure time. Return: the flight number — the pickup time follows from it.

  2. 02 A fixed pickup time

The car is at your door at the agreed time; 15 minutes of waiting are included at a street address.

  3. 03 No intermediate steps

No car park, no ticket, no changes — one ride from your address to the departures level.

Comparison

Pickup service, train, or drive and park?

There are three usual ways to reach Frankfurt Airport, and they differ less in price than in how many steps sit between your front door and the check-in desk.

Drive and park Drive, car park, ticket, shuttle or walk to the terminalLoad and unload the luggage twiceWorkable, but hunting for a space in the dark
Train and local transport Walk to the station, ride, possible change, walk to the terminalStairs, platform changes, limited spaceBefore six there is no service or a night timetable

Two directions

Feeder run and pickup service — one principle, two directions

They are two words for the same service with the ends swapped. The outbound leg starts at your address and ends at the terminal's departures level. The return leg starts on the arrivals level and ends at your front door. Both are priced on the same logic — distance and vehicle class — and both at a fixed price settled before you book.

The only real difference is the arithmetic. Outbound, you work backwards from the departure time: lead time at the terminal plus drive time plus a buffer gives the pickup time. Inbound, nobody has to calculate anything, because the flight number does it — the driver works from the actual landing rather than the schedule.

Booking both directions at once means the return is already in place before the trip begins. After a long-haul flight in particular, that is the difference between walking to the exit and joining a queue. The return leg can also be added later.

Outbound

When you need to leave — the calculation, backwards

The starting point is not the drive time but the time you should be at the terminal. As a guide, allow roughly 120 minutes before departure for flights within the Schengen area and about 180 minutes for long-haul and non-Schengen flights. Add the drive time from your address, which every route page on this site states in real kilometres and minutes.

Then add a buffer for traffic. The approaches to the airport run via the A3 and the A5, and both are noticeably busier during rush hour and around trade-fair dates. Travelling between seven and nine in the morning or four and seven in the afternoon deserves a more generous plan than the satnav suggests.

You do not have to work this out yourself: enter the departure time and your address and the booking form proposes a pickup time that already includes lead time and drive time. If you would rather leave earlier, overwrite it. 15 minutes of waiting are included at a street address — enough for the case still open in the hallway.

Return

The pickup at the airport: what happens automatically

You give the flight number when booking. That lets the driver track the real flight status and work from the actual landing time. If the aircraft lands early, the driver is there early; if it is hours late, the pickup moves with it, without a call or a rebooking from you. 60 minutes of waiting are included from the actual landing.

After landing you take the normal route: passport control if it applies, then baggage reclaim, then the customs exit. Immediately beyond it the driver is waiting with a sign bearing your name — in concourses A, B, C or Z in Terminal 1, or concourse H or J in Terminal 3. Which concourse applies follows from the flight number.

If you do not spot the driver straight away, the phone number is in your booking confirmation; one call is enough and the meeting point is adjusted. A last-minute terminal change costs nothing extra — Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are linked by the free SkyLine, and the driver simply moves across.

Pickups to Frankfurt Airport from your region

Every connection has its own page with real distance, drive time and a fixed price — for the run to the terminal and the pickup back again.

Price

What a pickup service costs — and what changes it

Two things set the price: the distance between your address and the airport, and the vehicle class. Both are settled before you book. There is no meter, no surcharge that only appears at the destination, and no price that moves between the quote and the journey.

Included are the ride itself, tolls and road charges along the route, the airport charges for access and short waiting, and waiting time within the agreed allowance. Not included — and therefore visible in the form before you confirm — is anything you add yourself: a second pickup address, a larger vehicle class, a return leg, a child seat.

What explicitly does not change the price is the hour. A three a.m. departure costs the same as the same route on a Wednesday afternoon; there is no night, weekend or holiday surcharge and no surge during trade fairs. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.

The maths

Pickup service instead of parking: the honest calculation

For a week away almost everyone asks the same question: drive and park, or be driven? The answer turns on three items that are easy to underestimate on the parking side — the parking charge for the whole trip, the fuel for both legs, and the value of the time spent finding a space and getting from it to the terminal.

The rule of thumb those three produce: the longer the trip and the more people in the car, the more the pickup service wins. For a two-night trip on your own, parking can be cheaper; from about a week, and certainly with two or more travellers, the calculation regularly flips. On top of that the car stays at home, where it can still be used.

We have worked the detail through, including the items no car-park price board mentions, in our piece comparing parking and a transfer. The short version: a pickup service does not sell you a saving, it removes four separate steps from a day on which you have a flight to catch anyway.

Booking for others

When somebody else is being driven

A large share of these bookings are not made for the booker's own trip but for parents, guests, clients or staff. That works unchanged: book in the travelling person's name, leave their phone number in case it is needed, and pay yourself. For the passenger, no contact with booking or payment arises at all.

For older travellers in particular the service is more than a convenience. The driver helps with the luggage, drives up to the departures level and, where it helps, hands over at the entrance rather than in a car park. If a wheelchair, a walking aid or assistance is needed, say so when booking so the right vehicle class and enough time are planned in.

The same goes for families with small children: child seats and booster seats are available on request and belong in the notes field so the driver brings them. A child seat known about in advance is planned for; one requested at the kerb is a problem.

Regular travel

Recurring airport runs and corporate travel

Frequent flyers do not need a new supplier per trip; they need a routine that does not change: the same pickup address, the same vehicle class, and a price per leg that can be approved in advance. Invoicing is available with VAT shown separately, which turns the airport run into one line in the travel expenses rather than a pile of receipts.

For companies with several travellers on the same day it is worth agreeing the detail in advance so vehicles and times line up. Multiple pickups can be combined or deliberately kept separate, depending on whether the travellers want to arrive together.

We take enquiries of this kind 24/7. Flight operations in Frankfurt do not keep office hours, and neither does availability for airport runs.

In practice

The address: the most underrated part of the booking

At night an unclear address is the single most common cause of lost minutes — and those minutes are missing at check-in. So it pays to be more precise than seems necessary: the house number, a rear building or side entrance where relevant, the name of the entrance at hotels, and the gate or unit number at business addresses.

In residential areas with shared garages, in new developments whose streets are not yet on every map, and on business parks where the access road is several hundred metres from the main road, that one line makes the difference. A sentence in the notes field replaces a phone call at half past three.

The same applies to anything that changes the vehicle choice: oversized luggage such as skis, golf bags, pushchairs or instruments, a pet, or a second address on the way. Anything known in advance is planned for and covered by the fixed price.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Frankfurt Airport pickup service cost?

The price follows the distance between your address and the airport plus the vehicle class, and it is settled before you book. Tolls, road charges, the airport access charge and the agreed waiting time are included; extra stops or a larger vehicle class appear in the form before you confirm.

When do I need to leave home?

Work backwards from your departure time: around 120 minutes of lead time at the terminal for Schengen flights and about 180 minutes for long-haul, plus the drive time from your address and a buffer for rush-hour traffic on the A3 and A5. The booking form proposes a pickup time on that basis, which you can overwrite.

What is the difference between a feeder run and a pickup service?

It is the same service with the ends swapped: the outbound leg runs from your address to the departures level, the return leg from the arrivals level back to your address. Both are priced by distance and vehicle class at a fixed price; only the return leg additionally needs the flight number.

Is a pickup service worth it compared with parking at the airport?

The calculation turns on trip length and headcount: for a short trip alone, parking can be cheaper, but from about a week, and with two or more travellers, the pickup service regularly comes out ahead. Add the items no price board shows — fuel for both legs, finding a space, and the shuttle or walk to the terminal.

How precise does the pickup address need to be?

As precise as you can make it, especially at night: house number, a rear building or side entrance where relevant, the entrance name at hotels and the gate or unit number at business addresses. An unclear address is the most common reason for lost minutes on early departures.

Can I book the pickup for someone else?

The booking is made in the travelling person's name with their phone number in case it is needed, while you pay. No contact with booking or payment arises for the passenger — the driver collects them at the agreed time, with 15 minutes of waiting included at a street address.

Does the service run very early in the morning?

Service runs 24/7, and the hour does not change the price: there is no night, weekend or holiday surcharge. Before six in particular, when local transport either does not run or runs on a night timetable, a fixed pickup at your own address is often the only workable plan.
