The Ghent–FRA route
Ghent to Frankfurt Airport is around 453 kilometres, for which we allow just under five hours of driving. We take the E40/E314 toward Aachen, cross the Belgian–German border there, and then run along the A4 and A3 past Aachen, Cologne and Limburg into the Rhine-Main region.
The route leads out through Deurne past the Antwerp conurbation and on through the three-country corner near Aachen. For a morning flight we choose an early departure so the Antwerp bypass and the Cologne interchange stay clear of jams.
Pick-up in Ghent
We collect you straight from your address in Ghent – in the historic centre by the Korenmarkt, in Ledeberg, Sint-Amandsberg or at the university. The car is at your door, with no trip to Gent-Sint-Pieters station.
Your luggage is stowed and the drive begins at the agreed time. On the long route a break can be worked in exactly as you prefer.
Arriving at the terminal
In Frankfurt we bring you straight to the right departure terminal – Terminal 1 or Terminal 3. That removes the long walk from station to check-in that the train would involve.
The fixed price is set in advance and stays the same even if the border or Cologne takes longer. You step out and head straight for the desk.
About Ghent
Ghent is one of the finest medieval cities in Flanders: the moated Gravensteen castle, the belfry and St Bavo’s Cathedral with the celebrated Ghent Altarpiece by the Van Eyck brothers define its skyline. The quays of Graslei and Korenlei on the Leie are among the most photographed spots in Belgium.
As a major university city and the country’s third-largest port, Ghent draws business travellers and culture tourists alike. Those heading to the airport often leave after the Ghent Festival or a conference.
Travel tips for this route
With just under five hours of driving, a solid time buffer pays off, especially given the heavy traffic around Antwerp and on the Cologne ring. An early departure keeps both bottlenecks clear.
Keep your ID card or passport handy in your cabin bag, even though the Aachen crossing is usually passed without stopping. Water and comfortable clothes make the long drive easier.

Transfer, taxi or train from Gent?
Over 453 kilometres the fixed-price transfer shows its advantages: one car from your door in Ghent to the terminal, without changing in Brussels. By train the same trip means a train to Brussels, an ICE to Frankfurt and the transfer with luggage; a taxi over this distance runs on the meter and leaves the total open, while a rental car saddles you with the drop-off in Frankfurt and the parking. The private transfer states the price in advance and lets you simply enjoy the ride.

Your driver wears a suit, greets you by name and helps with the luggage — in the Business and First Class categories it is a limousine service with a Mercedes E- or S-Class. Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.
Can I travel with an infant or child seat?
A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.
