Route facts

From Bad Tölz to Frankfurt Airport

Leaving the Isar valley, the drive runs either along the B13 to Holzkirchen and onto the A8, or via Wolfratshausen onto the A95 towards Munich, depending on traffic. At the ring motorway it continues north on the A9.

Beyond Nuremberg the A3 carries the route through Franconia and over the Spessart to the Frankfurter Kreuz. The 456 km take a little over four hours forty.

Pickup in Bad Tölz

Whether it is a hotel in the spa quarter across the Isar, an apartment in Wackersberg or a house in Gaißach, the driver comes to the address given and loads the bags. On the sloping Marktstraße a stopping point is agreed in advance where the car can actually stand.

Early flights mean a pickup in the middle of the night – which is also when the run up to Munich is completely clear.

Arriving at the terminal

The car stops on the departures level, at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 depending on the airline. That removes the regional train to Munich, the change at the Hauptbahnhof and the long-distance connection after it.

Travelling with spa luggage, children or sports equipment, you notice the difference most when you step out a few metres from the desk.

Bad Tölz – Marktstraße, the Isar and iodine springs

Bad Tölz is split by the Isar: on one bank the Marktstraße drops towards the bridge between painted townhouse facades, on the other lies the spa quarter whose iodine and sulphur springs earned the town its Bad. Above it all stands the Kalvarienberg church at the top of its long stairway.

Every 6 November the Leonhardifahrt takes decorated horse teams up the Kalvarienberg, one of the largest processions of its kind in Bavaria. On the doorstep are the Blomberg with its summer toboggan run and the Isarwinkel, the valley leading south towards the Sylvenstein reservoir and the Karwendel range.

Travel tips for this route

In winter, snow in the Isar valley and Germany's situational winter tyre rule are the only real variables; if needed the pickup simply moves earlier. No Alpine passes are crossed.

On summer weekends and during Bavarian school holidays the excursion traffic heading for the mountains works against a late-morning start. A note when booking is enough for skis, sledges or golf bags.

Comparison

Transfer, taxi or train from Bad Tölz?

By public transport, every journey from Bad Tölz starts with a train to Munich, a change at the Hauptbahnhof and an ICE to the airport – three legs in which a single missed connection costs you the flight. A metered taxi over 456 km would be the most expensive and least predictable option of all. A rental car adds airport parking to four and a half hours of driving you have to do yourself. The fixed-price transfer collects you in the Isar valley, delivers you to departures without a single change, and the amount is fixed before you book.

You hail a taxi at a rank; a chauffeur is booked to the minute in Bad Tölz. That makes the transfer the fixed-price alternative to a Frankfurt Airport taxi for Bad Tölz.

Can I pay the driver by card?

Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.

Can I travel with an infant or child seat?

A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.

How does free cancellation work?
