Berchtesgaden sits about 558 kilometres from Frankfurt Airport, and we schedule roughly 5 hours 38 minutes. The first stretch is mountain road: through Bischofswiesen and down the valley trunk road to Bad Reichenhall before the A 8 towards Munich begins.

From there the route crosses the Chiemgau to Munich, skirts the city on the A 99, runs north on the A 9 towards Nuremberg and finally follows the A 3 and A 5 corridor to the Frankfurter Kreuz. The whole drive stays on German roads, so no Austrian vignette is needed.
