Kues was the birthplace of the scholar Nicholas of Cusa, whose St Nicholas Hospital and medieval library still stand. Allow generously for the climb onto the Hunsrueck, especially in winter: the high ground along the B 50 can hold snow while it is merely raining down in the valley. We set the pick-up time with that in mind.

During the September wine festivals the riverside streets in Bernkastel are closed off at times, so name a meeting point outside the festival area, by the Mosel bridge for instance.
