From Frankfurt Airport to Bernkastel-Kues
From the terminal the route runs west on the A 3 and A 67, then along the A 60 and A 61 across Rhenish Hesse past Bad Kreuznach. In total it is about 140 km, for which around 108 minutes should be allowed.
The last section crosses the Hunsrueck on the B 50 and ends with the hairpin descent into the Mosel valley, where Bernkastel-Kues opens out between the river and its steep vineyards.
Meet and greet at FRA
Your driver is waiting in the arrivals hall of your terminal with a name sign. We watch the flight number, so a late landing or a slow baggage belt does not disturb the plan.
He takes the luggage and leads you to the vehicle; for wine tours arriving with several cases we send a larger car from the outset.
Arriving in Bernkastel-Kues
You are set down at your hotel, guesthouse, wine estate or at the berth of your river-cruise ship. Neighbouring Middle Mosel villages such as Graach, Lieser, Muelheim or Traben-Trarbach lie on the same road and are served without argument about detours.
Since many old-town addresses sit on traffic-free lanes, the driver stops as close as permitted and carries the bags the last few metres.
What awaits you on the Mosel
Bernkastel-Kues is one of the picture-postcard scenes of the Mosel: the market square framed in half-timbering, the crooked little Spitzhaeuschen, and above it all the ruin of Landshut castle with its long view down the valley.
On the Kues bank stands the St Nicholas Hospital founded by Nicholas of Cusa, with its medieval library and a vinotheque in the vaulted cellar. Around the town the steepest Riesling sites in Europe climb the slate, and in summer excursion boats call at the quay through the day.
Practical notes on arrival
Tell us whether your destination is on the Bernkastel or the Kues bank, because the two sides are linked only by the bridge and the approaches are quite different.
If you are joining a river cruise, give the ship's name and departure time; we then build extra reserve into the Hunsrueck section of the drive.

Transfer, taxi or train from Bernkastel-Kues?
Reaching Bernkastel-Kues by public transport from the airport is laborious, since the train to Wittlich or Trier has to be followed by a bus into the valley, and the last connections finish early. An airport taxi over the Hunsrueck charges by the meter, while a rental car leaves you driving the hairpins yourself after a long-haul flight and then paying for it to stand idle on the Mosel. A fixed-price transfer starts with a name sign in arrivals and ends at your hotel or your ship's berth, at the rate agreed beforehand.

How long does the transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Bernkastel-Kues take?
The drive from Frankfurt Airport to Bernkastel-Kues takes about 108 minutes for 140 km in normal traffic. That is measured from the meeting point inside the terminal, not from touchdown.
Where does my driver meet me at Terminal 1 or 3?
The meeting point is the arrivals hall of your terminal — your driver stands just beyond the customs exit holding a name sign and walks you to the vehicle. The terminal follows from the flight number you give when booking, and a diversion to 1 or 3 still gets you found.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Pickup is linked to your flight number and shifts automatically with the actual landing time — at no extra charge. 60 minutes of waiting are included after touchdown so baggage reclaim and passport control are covered.
How much is a transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Bernkastel-Kues?
The fixed price for the 140 km route is shown in the booking form before you book and never changes afterwards — regardless of traffic, time of day, weekday or how long the drive actually takes. It depends on the vehicle class and the distance, not on a meter.
How much luggage fits in each vehicle?
The sedan classes take 2 large suitcases plus 2 cabin bags; the Business Van takes 7 suitcases plus 5 cabin bags for up to 8 passengers. Declare oversized items such as skis, a golf bag or a pushchair when booking so the right class is dispatched.
Is this a taxi or a chauffeur service?
This is a chauffeur service: the journey is booked in advance, the price is fixed before you book and no meter runs. Your driver wears a suit, greets you by name and helps with the luggage — in the Business and First Class categories it is a limousine service with a Mercedes E- or S-Class. You hail a taxi at a rank; a chauffeur waits for you at the terminal with a name sign. That makes the transfer the fixed-price alternative to a Frankfurt Airport taxi for Bernkastel-Kues.
Can I pay the driver by card?
Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.
Can I travel with an infant or child seat?
A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.
