Route facts

The route from Frankfurt Airport to Cottbus

From the terminal the car joins the northbound A 5 at the Frankfurter Kreuz and runs through the Wetterau and northern Hesse to the Kirchheim interchange. There it turns east onto the A 4: Eisenach, Erfurt, the Thuringian basin, Chemnitz and finally Dresden.

Beyond Dresden the A 13 heads north towards Berlin before the route peels off east into Lower Lusatia just short of the Spreewald and on into Cottbus. We reckon on about six hours for the 575 kilometres, one break included.

Meet and greet in arrivals

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall of your terminal with a name sign as soon as you are through baggage reclaim and customs. If the aircraft is late, the meeting time moves with it – we watch the flight status.

From there it is a short walk to the car. No ticket to buy, no connection to work out and no question of whether the last train to Cottbus has already gone.

Arriving in Cottbus

We take you to the address itself: a flat in Sandow, a hotel in the centre, a clinic, the BTU campus or a company address on one of the industrial estates. After six hours on the road the journey ends at a front door rather than on a platform with your cases.

Destinations in the surrounding area are served the same way – Kolkwitz, Briesen, Dissen-Striesow. Late-night arrivals are no obstacle, because the driver works to your landing time.

What awaits you in Cottbus

Cottbus sees itself as the capital of Lower Lusatia and looks the part: bilingual German and Lower Sorbian signage, an Art Nouveau state theatre and a baroque-fronted Altmarkt. Branitz Park on the eastern edge, with Prince Pückler's earth pyramids, is one of Germany's best-known landscape gardens.

Outside town, a former open-cast pit is filling to form the Cottbuser Ostsee, and to the north the Spreewald begins, with its punt trips and cucumber farms. Business visitors usually come for the university, the energy sector or the wider restructuring of the Lusatian coalfield.

Practical notes for this journey

The A 4 through Thuringia and Saxony is the decisive stretch; roadworks and the section around the Hermsdorf interchange can add time, and we allow for that rather than quoting an unrealistic duration.

On night arrivals the car stays as quiet as you want it – most guests sleep through much of the drive. Child seats, a larger vehicle for a group or a stop in Dresden can all be arranged beforehand.

Comparison

Transfer, taxi or train from Cottbus?

There is no fast direct link from Frankfurt into Lower Lusatia: rail routes run via Leipzig or Berlin with at least one change, and if you land after ten at night you may not reach Cottbus the same day at all. A rental car demands six hours of concentration immediately after a flight plus a one-way fee, while a metered taxi over this distance produces no plannable sum. The fixed-price transfer waits for your flight, delay and all, and delivers you to a Cottbus doorstep in one go.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does the transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Cottbus take?

The drive from Frankfurt Airport to Cottbus takes about 364 minutes for 575 km in normal traffic. That is measured from the meeting point inside the terminal, not from touchdown.

Where does my driver meet me at Terminal 1 or 3?

The meeting point is the arrivals hall of your terminal — your driver stands just beyond the customs exit holding a name sign and walks you to the vehicle. The terminal follows from the flight number you give when booking, and a diversion to 1 or 3 still gets you found.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Pickup is linked to your flight number and shifts automatically with the actual landing time — at no extra charge. 60 minutes of waiting are included after touchdown so baggage reclaim and passport control are covered.

How much is a transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Cottbus?

The fixed price for the 575 km route is shown in the booking form before you book and never changes afterwards — regardless of traffic, time of day, weekday or how long the drive actually takes. It depends on the vehicle class and the distance, not on a meter.

How much luggage fits in each vehicle?

The sedan classes take 2 large suitcases plus 2 cabin bags; the Business Van takes 7 suitcases plus 5 cabin bags for up to 8 passengers. Declare oversized items such as skis, a golf bag or a pushchair when booking so the right class is dispatched.

Is this a taxi or a chauffeur service?

This is a chauffeur service: the journey is booked in advance, the price is fixed before you book and no meter runs. Your driver wears a suit, greets you by name and helps with the luggage — in the Business and First Class categories it is a limousine service with a Mercedes E- or S-Class. You hail a taxi at a rank; a chauffeur waits for you at the terminal with a name sign. That makes the transfer the fixed-price alternative to a Frankfurt Airport taxi for Cottbus.

Can I pay the driver by card?

Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.

Can I travel with an infant or child seat?

A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.
