From Frankfurt Airport to the Eibsee
Leaving the airport, the drive runs on the A 67 past Darmstadt, then south on the A 6 and A 8 past Stuttgart, Ulm and Augsburg. The whole journey is about 483 kilometres and a little over five hours.
Beyond Munich the A 95 leads into the Werdenfels valley, and from Garmisch-Partenkirchen the B 23 heads towards Grainau. The final kilometres climb a narrow mountain road to the lake below the Zugspitze.
Greeted with a name sign
Your driver is waiting in the arrivals hall of your terminal holding a sign with your name. The flight is tracked, so someone is there for you even if the inbound runs late.
There are no timetables or connections to work out. The luggage goes into the boot and the drive into the Alps starts straight away.
Arriving at the lake
We drive to the accommodation itself, whether that is the hotel on the Eibsee, a flat in Grainau or an address in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The final climb is routine for the driver, even with a full boot.
If you want to head up the Zugspitze the same day, you step out practically at the valley station. A short shopping stop in Grainau can be arranged in advance.
Why travellers come to the Eibsee
With its clear turquoise water and scattered islets, the lake counts among the most beautiful in the Alps, and the shore path is an easy afternoon's walk. The Zugspitze rises directly above it, reached by the cable car from the shore or by the cog railway from Garmisch.
Summer brings swimmers, rowing boats and photographers; winter brings skiers heading for the Zugspitzplatt. On the Tyrolean side, Ehrwald and Lermoos are only a short drive away.
Good to know about arriving here
When it is snowing, the climb from the valley to the lake takes noticeably longer; our cars are equipped for winter and the driver knows the bends. After an overnight flight, allow a little slack before your check-in time.
Child seats, ski luggage space or a larger vehicle for a group are noted at booking. The return trip to the airport can be fixed in the same step.

Transfer, taxi or train from Eibsee?
Public transport reaches the Eibsee only via Munich, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Zugspitze railway, which is three changes with suitcases after a long flight, and the last train up does not run late at night. A taxi from Frankfurt would drive it in one, but on a meter across 483 kilometres. A hire car adds the rental desk, five hours of motorway and an unfamiliar mountain road in the dark. The fixed-price transfer meets you at the name sign and stops next outside your accommodation at the lake.

How long does the transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Eibsee take?
The drive from Frankfurt Airport to Eibsee takes about 311 minutes for 483 km in normal traffic. That is measured from the meeting point inside the terminal, not from touchdown.
Where does my driver meet me at Terminal 1 or 3?
The meeting point is the arrivals hall of your terminal — your driver stands just beyond the customs exit holding a name sign and walks you to the vehicle. The terminal follows from the flight number you give when booking, and a diversion to 1 or 3 still gets you found.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Pickup is linked to your flight number and shifts automatically with the actual landing time — at no extra charge. 60 minutes of waiting are included after touchdown so baggage reclaim and passport control are covered.
How much is a transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Eibsee?
The fixed price for the 483 km route is shown in the booking form before you book and never changes afterwards — regardless of traffic, time of day, weekday or how long the drive actually takes. It depends on the vehicle class and the distance, not on a meter.
How much luggage fits in each vehicle?
The sedan classes take 2 large suitcases plus 2 cabin bags; the Business Van takes 7 suitcases plus 5 cabin bags for up to 8 passengers. Declare oversized items such as skis, a golf bag or a pushchair when booking so the right class is dispatched.
Is this a taxi or a chauffeur service?
This is a chauffeur service: the journey is booked in advance, the price is fixed before you book and no meter runs. Your driver wears a suit, greets you by name and helps with the luggage — in the Business and First Class categories it is a limousine service with a Mercedes E- or S-Class. You hail a taxi at a rank; a chauffeur waits for you at the terminal with a name sign. That makes the transfer the fixed-price alternative to a Frankfurt Airport taxi for Eibsee.
Can I pay the driver by card?
Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.
Can I travel with an infant or child seat?
A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.
