Route facts

From Frankfurt Airport to Linz

After landing the car joins the A 3 heading east, past Würzburg, Nuremberg and Regensburg to Passau - a single motorway spine covering most of the 562 kilometres. The Austrian border is crossed at Suben.

On the Austrian side the A 8 and A 25 lead in via Wels before the A 7 Mühlkreis motorway takes you straight through Linz. Around five hours and 40 minutes is realistic; the vignette and tolls are included in the fixed price.

Name sign waiting in Frankfurt

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall beyond customs with a name sign, in Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 depending on your flight. If the landing slips, the waiting time simply moves with it - we track the flight number.

After a long-haul flight this is the moment the journey gets easier: the driver takes the luggage and walks you to the car instead of leaving you in a queue or at a ticket machine.

Arriving in Linz

We drive you to the exact address - a hotel on the Hauptplatz, an apartment in Urfahr, a conference venue on the Danube bank, or home in Leonding, Puchenau, Plesching or Traun. Destinations up in the Mühlviertel north of the city are equally possible.

If your flight lands late, the trip ends in the early hours at your own door rather than in an airport hotel. Waiting time and night hours do not show up in the price.

About Linz

People rarely end up in Linz by accident: it is an industrial base, a university city thanks to the Johannes Kepler University, and a cultural address at the same time. The Hauptplatz ranks among the largest enclosed squares in Central Europe, and the Nibelungen Bridge links the centre to Urfahr right beside it.

The Ars Electronica Center on the northern bank and the Lentos art museum on the southern one define the skyline after dark, while the Pöstlingberg and its narrow-gauge mountain railway supply the classic view over the Danube valley.

Notes for the run into Austria

Give us the flight number so the driver can wait for the actual landing; for arrivals from overseas we allow extra time for passport control and baggage reclaim. Keep travel documents handy, as checks at Suben do happen.

We normally take a break somewhere between Nuremberg and Regensburg. Child seats and a larger vehicle for families or delegations can be ordered with the booking.

Comparison

Transfer, taxi or train from Linz?

There is no comfortable rail route from Frankfurt Airport to Linz: a change at the Fernbahnhof, another change en route, and a taxi at the far end. A rental car asks you to drive the A 3 yourself straight off a long-haul flight, complete with the border and the vignette, on a one-way international hire. A taxi with no agreed figure for 562 kilometres is not a serious option. A transfer booked in advance answers all of it with a driver at the exit, a fixed destination address and a price settled before you boarded.

Transfer (fixed price) recommended ~340 min 0 included fixed, known upfront
Taxi (meter) ~340 min 0 included variable, after the ride

Timing

When to set off from Linz

For the 562 km to Frankfurt your driver allows around 340 minutes of actual driving plus roughly 70 minutes of buffer for rush hour, roadworks and the terminal approach. To make a Schengen flight, that means leaving Linz about 8 h 50 min before departure; for long-haul and non-Schengen, about 9 h 50 min.

You do not have to do that arithmetic yourself. Enter your departure time and address and the booking form proposes the pickup time — driving time, buffer and terminal lead are already inside it. If you would rather leave earlier, overwrite the suggestion.

In the other direction the arithmetic disappears anyway: for an airport pickup the time hangs on your flight number, not the clock. Your driver tracks the actual landing, and 60 minutes of waiting from touchdown are included.

What's included

What the price covers on this route

The fixed price for Linz – Frankfurt Airport covers all 562 km, plus tolls and road charges en route, the airport access and short-stay parking at pickup, and the border crossing including a vignette where one is required. What you pay is settled before you book — there is no meter and no surcharge that only appears as you get out.

The price is independent of the clock as well. The same route costs the same at three in the morning as on a Wednesday afternoon, the same on public holidays as on working days, and there is no demand surcharge during trade fairs. The only things that move it are ones you choose: a stop along the way, a larger vehicle class, or the return leg.

Every passenger is welcome — regardless of background, gender, identity or orientation; our drivers are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly. Pets travel when the species and size are noted at booking, and guide and assistance dogs with no notice and no surcharge.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does the transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Linz take?

The drive from Frankfurt Airport to Linz takes about 340 minutes for 562 km in normal traffic. That is measured from the meeting point inside the terminal, not from touchdown.

Where does my driver meet me at Terminal 1 or 3?

The meeting point is the arrivals hall of your terminal — your driver stands just beyond the customs exit holding a name sign and walks you to the vehicle. The terminal follows from the flight number you give when booking, and a diversion to 1 or 3 still gets you found.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Pickup is linked to your flight number and shifts automatically with the actual landing time — at no extra charge. 60 minutes of waiting are included after touchdown so baggage reclaim and passport control are covered.

How much is a transfer from Frankfurt Airport to Linz?

The fixed price for the 562 km route is shown in the booking form before you book and never changes afterwards — regardless of traffic, time of day, weekday or how long the drive actually takes. It depends on the vehicle class and the distance, not on a meter.

Do you drive across the border to Linz?

Cross-border journeys are part of the standard service — Linz is served at a fixed price exactly like German destinations, and we cover Germany plus 10 neighbouring countries in total. Tolls, road vignettes and border formalities are included in the price.

What does the fixed price include?

It covers the 562 km drive, tolls and road charges en route, airport fees, and 60 minutes of waiting from the landing time. The price only moves for things you choose yourself — a stop along the way, a larger vehicle class or a return leg — and each is shown in the form before you confirm.

Does the ride cost more at night or on public holidays?

The fixed price applies whatever the clock says: Linz – Frankfurt Airport costs the same at three in the morning as on a Wednesday afternoon. There is no night, weekend or holiday surcharge, and no demand pricing during trade fairs. Booking and driving run 24/7.

How much luggage fits in each vehicle?

The sedan classes take 4 large suitcases plus 2 cabin bags; the Business Van takes 12 suitcases plus 5 cabin bags for up to 8 passengers. Declare oversized items such as skis, a golf bag or a pushchair when booking so the right class is dispatched.

Is this a taxi or a chauffeur service?

This is a chauffeur service: the journey is booked in advance, the price is fixed before you book and no meter runs. Your driver wears a suit, greets you by name and helps with the luggage — in the Business and First Class categories it is a limousine service with a Mercedes E- or S-Class. You hail a taxi at a rank; a chauffeur waits for you at the terminal with a name sign. That makes the transfer the fixed-price alternative to a Frankfurt Airport taxi for Linz.

Transfer or train from Linz?

The train is cheaper per person, the transfer per vehicle — with two travellers and luggage the comparison usually flips. The transfer covers the 562 km in about 340 minutes with no changes and ends at your address rather than a station; travelling alone with hand luggage and a good connection, the train is often the better call.

Can I travel with a dog or a cat?

Pets are welcome. State the species and size when booking so the right vehicle class is dispatched for Linz — small animals travel in a carrier in the footwell, larger dogs in the load area of a van. Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel in every vehicle, with no advance notice and no surcharge.

Can I pay the driver by card?

Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.

Can I travel with an infant or child seat?

A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.

Can I book this transfer for someone else?

The booking runs in the passenger's name rather than the payer's — your guest, client or family member is met at the terminal with a name sign. Payment and the receipt stay with you. Add the passenger's flight number and mobile so flight tracking and contact both work.

Who is the service for?

Every passenger is welcome — regardless of background, gender, identity or orientation. Our drivers are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly: couples, families of every shape, women travelling alone and guests who need assistance are driven with exactly the same matter-of-factness as anyone else. Discretion is part of a chauffeur service in any case.
