The route: Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof to Frankfurt Airport

Wiesbaden's main station to Frankfurt Airport is about 27 kilometres, and we allow around 24 minutes. From the station square we take the ring road onto the A66 heading east, switch to the A3 at the Wiesbadener Kreuz and stay on it to the airport exit.

The road runs along the southern slope of the Taunus past Wallau and Hofheim, and outside peak hours it is one of the quickest links in the whole Rhine-Main region. Between seven and nine in the morning the A66 does back up leaving town, which is what the buffer is for.

Pickup at Wiesbaden main station

The driver waits at the drop-off in front of the station building, on Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring, or directly outside your hotel on the station square. Tell us which side you will come out of and you save yourself the walk around a very large building.

We collect from home addresses just as readily – the city centre, the Rheingauviertel, Biebrich or Sonnenberg. For an early flight that means getting up, getting in, and skipping the wait on a cold platform.

Arriving at the terminal

We stop on the departures level at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, according to your airline. The driver lifts the cases out so you can walk straight to the desk.

Because Wiesbaden has no high-speed station with a frequent direct airport link, the road really is the faster option here. Even so, leave generous time for security once you are inside the terminal.

Wiesbaden: spa town and state capital

Wiesbaden is the capital of Hesse and one of Europe's oldest spa towns – the Kochbrunnen still bubbles hot thermal water in the middle of the centre, and the Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme recalls the heyday of the bathing trade. The Kurhaus with its casino, the Hessisches Staatstheater and the boutiques of Wilhelmstraße still form the grand core of the city.

The main station itself is a neo-baroque terminus of 1906 in red sandstone, one of the handsomest railway buildings in Germany. Above the town, the Neroberg – reached by the historic Nerobergbahn funicular – looks out over the rooftops towards the Rhine, and the Rheingau wine country begins just west at Walluf and Eltville.

Tips for the run to Frankfurt

When a major fair is on in Frankfurt, the A3 between the Wiesbadener Kreuz and the Frankfurter Kreuz turns sticky, so a 30-minute head start is well spent. Friday afternoons during the summer holidays are especially unpredictable.

If you have been staying out in the Rheingau, say so when booking. Pickups in Eltville, Walluf or Erbach are easily combined with a Wiesbaden starting point.

Comparison

Transfer, taxi or train from Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof?

A metered taxi from Wiesbaden station uses the same A66 and A3, but every kilometre and every stationary minute at the Wiesbadener Kreuz pushes the final figure up. By rail you almost always change at Mainz or Frankfurt-Höchst, and moving heavy cases between a terminus, a regional train and the S-Bahn is tiring work. A rental car adds counter time at both ends plus parking if someone would otherwise have driven you. A fixed-price transfer picks you up at your Wiesbaden address, the amount is agreed before departure, and the trip ends at the departures kerb.

Timing

When to set off from Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof

For the 27 km to Frankfurt your driver allows around 24 minutes of actual driving plus roughly 15 minutes of buffer for rush hour, roadworks and the terminal approach. To make a Schengen flight, that means leaving Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof about 2 h 39 min before departure; for long-haul and non-Schengen, about 3 h 39 min.

You do not have to do that arithmetic yourself. Enter your departure time and address and the booking form proposes the pickup time — driving time, buffer and terminal lead are already inside it. If you would rather leave earlier, overwrite the suggestion.

In the other direction the arithmetic disappears anyway: for an airport pickup the time hangs on your flight number, not the clock. Your driver tracks the actual landing, and 60 minutes of waiting from touchdown are included.

What's included

What the price covers on this route

The fixed price for Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof – Frankfurt Airport covers all 27 km, plus tolls and road charges en route, the airport access and short-stay parking at pickup. What you pay is settled before you book — there is no meter and no surcharge that only appears as you get out.

The price is independent of the clock as well. The same route costs the same at three in the morning as on a Wednesday afternoon, the same on public holidays as on working days, and there is no demand surcharge during trade fairs. The only things that move it are ones you choose: a stop along the way, a larger vehicle class, or the return leg.

Every passenger is welcome — regardless of background, gender, identity or orientation; our drivers are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly. Pets travel when the species and size are noted at booking, and guide and assistance dogs with no notice and no surcharge.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does the transfer from Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof to Frankfurt Airport take?

The drive from Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof to Frankfurt Airport takes about 24 minutes for 27 km in normal traffic. Your driver adds roughly 15 minutes of buffer for rush hour and roadworks.

How early should I leave Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof for Frankfurt Airport?

Leave Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof about 2 h 39 min before departure for a Schengen flight, or about 3 h 39 min for long-haul. That is 24 minutes of driving, 15 minutes of traffic buffer and 2 or 3 hours at the terminal. The booking form proposes the pickup time for you.

How much is a transfer from Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof to Frankfurt Airport?

The fixed price for the 27 km route is shown in the booking form before you book and never changes afterwards — regardless of traffic, time of day, weekday or how long the drive actually takes. It depends on the vehicle class and the distance, not on a meter.

What does the fixed price include?

It covers the 27 km drive, tolls and road charges en route, airport fees, and 15 minutes of waiting at the pickup address in Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof. The price only moves for things you choose yourself — a stop along the way, a larger vehicle class or a return leg — and each is shown in the form before you confirm.

Does the ride cost more at night or on public holidays?

The fixed price applies whatever the clock says: Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof – Frankfurt Airport costs the same at three in the morning as on a Wednesday afternoon. There is no night, weekend or holiday surcharge, and no demand pricing during trade fairs. Booking and driving run 24/7.

How much luggage fits in each vehicle?

The sedan classes take 4 large suitcases plus 2 cabin bags; the Business Van takes 12 suitcases plus 5 cabin bags for up to 8 passengers. Declare oversized items such as skis, a golf bag or a pushchair when booking so the right class is dispatched.

Is this a taxi or a chauffeur service?

This is a chauffeur service: the journey is booked in advance, the price is fixed before you book and no meter runs. Your driver wears a suit, greets you by name and helps with the luggage — in the Business and First Class categories it is a limousine service with a Mercedes E- or S-Class. You hail a taxi at a rank; a chauffeur is booked to the minute in Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof. That makes the transfer the fixed-price alternative to a Frankfurt Airport taxi for Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof.

Transfer or train from Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof?

The train is cheaper per person, the transfer per vehicle — with two travellers and luggage the comparison usually flips. The transfer covers the 27 km in about 24 minutes with no changes and ends at your address rather than a station; travelling alone with hand luggage and a good connection, the train is often the better call.

Can I travel with a dog or a cat?

Pets are welcome. State the species and size when booking so the right vehicle class is dispatched for Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof — small animals travel in a carrier in the footwell, larger dogs in the load area of a van. Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel in every vehicle, with no advance notice and no surcharge.

Can I pay the driver by card?

Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.

Can I travel with an infant or child seat?

A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.

Can I book this transfer for someone else?

The booking runs in the passenger's name rather than the payer's — your guest, client or family member is collected at the given address in Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof. Payment and the receipt stay with you. Add the passenger's flight number and mobile so flight tracking and contact both work.

Who is the service for?

Every passenger is welcome — regardless of background, gender, identity or orientation. Our drivers are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly: couples, families of every shape, women travelling alone and guests who need assistance are driven with exactly the same matter-of-factness as anyone else. Discretion is part of a chauffeur service in any case.

How does free cancellation work?

Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the agreed pickup time. After that a cancellation fee may apply; at the pickup address in Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof 15 minutes of waiting are included, and each further quarter hour is charged at the rate stated in the terms.
