The route: Messe Frankfurt to Frankfurt Airport

It is around 16 kilometres from the exhibition grounds to Frankfurt Airport, and we cover it in roughly 16 minutes – less time than the walk between some of the halls. From the Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage side we take Theodor-Heuss-Allee to the Frankfurter Westkreuz and head south on the A5.

At the Frankfurter Kreuz we peel off towards the terminals. When a major fair closes, the Katharinenkreisel roundabout is the one genuine bottleneck, and it falls in the first three minutes of the drive, so we plan around it.

Pickup at the exhibition grounds

We collect you at whichever entrance suits your hall – Eingang City on Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage, the Torhaus between the halls, or the Portalhaus on the Rebstock side. Give us your hall and stand number when booking and the car waits at the nearest gate.

Dismantling day is the critical moment for exhibitors: roller cases, sample crates and display panels fit in a saloon or a van, but not in every taxi. Tell us the volume in advance and the right vehicle turns up.

Arriving at the terminal

Your driver drops you on the departures level at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, whichever your airline uses. When an international fair closes and half the exhibitors fly out the same evening, those saved minutes matter.

Expect busy check-in desks on the final day of a fair, since thousands of trade visitors leave at once. We suggest scheduling the pickup half an hour earlier than you would on an ordinary working day.

Messe Frankfurt and its quarter

Frankfurt's exhibition site ranks among the largest in the world: halls 1 to 12 arranged around the listed Festhalle of 1909, linked by the Via Mobile walkway above the roofs. The Book Fair, Ambiente, Heimtextil, Light + Building, ISH and Automechanika bring trade audiences from well over a hundred countries here every year.

A whole district has grown up around it – the Europaviertel with the Skyline Plaza mall, the Kap Europa congress centre and the Messeturm on the edge of the banking quarter. Bockenheim and the Westend are within walking distance to the north, and the city centre begins just beyond the Taunusanlage.

Tips for exhibitors and trade visitors

Everyone leaves at once on the closing day, so if your schedule allows, book the transfer before the big afternoon wave. One booking for a whole stand team beats several separate rides, because there is only one meeting point to coordinate.

If you are carrying stand material home, check first whether it will pass as air baggage. The driver can move the crates; the airline still decides at the counter.

Comparison

Transfer, taxi or train from Messe Frankfurt?

Taxi ranks do sit outside the entrances during a fair, but at the exact moment tens of thousands of people leave, you find a queue rather than a car. The S-Bahn from Messe station reaches the airport reliably, yet it means changing at the Hauptbahnhof and wrestling sample cases through rush-hour crowds. A rental car adds parking charges for the whole run of the fair plus a return at the airport. A fixed-price transfer is at the entrance you named at the time you named, the amount is settled in advance, and your stand material travels with you.

Timing

When to set off from Messe Frankfurt

For the 16 km to Frankfurt your driver allows around 16 minutes of actual driving plus roughly 15 minutes of buffer for rush hour, roadworks and the terminal approach. To make a Schengen flight, that means leaving Messe Frankfurt about 2 h 31 min before departure; for long-haul and non-Schengen, about 3 h 31 min.

You do not have to do that arithmetic yourself. Enter your departure time and address and the booking form proposes the pickup time — driving time, buffer and terminal lead are already inside it. If you would rather leave earlier, overwrite the suggestion.

In the other direction the arithmetic disappears anyway: for an airport pickup the time hangs on your flight number, not the clock. Your driver tracks the actual landing, and 60 minutes of waiting from touchdown are included.

What's included

What the price covers on this route

The fixed price for Messe Frankfurt – Frankfurt Airport covers all 16 km, plus tolls and road charges en route, the airport access and short-stay parking at pickup. What you pay is settled before you book — there is no meter and no surcharge that only appears as you get out.

The price is independent of the clock as well. The same route costs the same at three in the morning as on a Wednesday afternoon, the same on public holidays as on working days, and there is no demand surcharge during trade fairs. The only things that move it are ones you choose: a stop along the way, a larger vehicle class, or the return leg.

Every passenger is welcome — regardless of background, gender, identity or orientation; our drivers are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly. Pets travel when the species and size are noted at booking, and guide and assistance dogs with no notice and no surcharge.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does the transfer from Messe Frankfurt to Frankfurt Airport take?

The drive from Messe Frankfurt to Frankfurt Airport takes about 16 minutes for 16 km in normal traffic. Your driver adds roughly 15 minutes of buffer for rush hour and roadworks.

How early should I leave Messe Frankfurt for Frankfurt Airport?

Leave Messe Frankfurt about 2 h 31 min before departure for a Schengen flight, or about 3 h 31 min for long-haul. That is 16 minutes of driving, 15 minutes of traffic buffer and 2 or 3 hours at the terminal. The booking form proposes the pickup time for you.

How much is a transfer from Messe Frankfurt to Frankfurt Airport?

The fixed price for the 16 km route is shown in the booking form before you book and never changes afterwards — regardless of traffic, time of day, weekday or how long the drive actually takes. It depends on the vehicle class and the distance, not on a meter.

What does the fixed price include?

It covers the 16 km drive, tolls and road charges en route, airport fees, and 15 minutes of waiting at the pickup address in Messe Frankfurt. The price only moves for things you choose yourself — a stop along the way, a larger vehicle class or a return leg — and each is shown in the form before you confirm.

Does the ride cost more at night or on public holidays?

The fixed price applies whatever the clock says: Messe Frankfurt – Frankfurt Airport costs the same at three in the morning as on a Wednesday afternoon. There is no night, weekend or holiday surcharge, and no demand pricing during trade fairs. Booking and driving run 24/7.

How much luggage fits in each vehicle?

The sedan classes take 4 large suitcases plus 2 cabin bags; the Business Van takes 12 suitcases plus 5 cabin bags for up to 8 passengers. Declare oversized items such as skis, a golf bag or a pushchair when booking so the right class is dispatched.

Is this a taxi or a chauffeur service?

This is a chauffeur service: the journey is booked in advance, the price is fixed before you book and no meter runs. Your driver wears a suit, greets you by name and helps with the luggage — in the Business and First Class categories it is a limousine service with a Mercedes E- or S-Class. You hail a taxi at a rank; a chauffeur is booked to the minute in Messe Frankfurt. That makes the transfer the fixed-price alternative to a Frankfurt Airport taxi for Messe Frankfurt.

Transfer or train from Messe Frankfurt?

The train is cheaper per person, the transfer per vehicle — with two travellers and luggage the comparison usually flips. The transfer covers the 16 km in about 16 minutes with no changes and ends at your address rather than a station; travelling alone with hand luggage and a good connection, the train is often the better call.

Can I travel with a dog or a cat?

Pets are welcome. State the species and size when booking so the right vehicle class is dispatched for Messe Frankfurt — small animals travel in a carrier in the footwell, larger dogs in the load area of a van. Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel in every vehicle, with no advance notice and no surcharge.

Can I pay the driver by card?

Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.

Can I travel with an infant or child seat?

A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.

Can I book this transfer for someone else?

The booking runs in the passenger's name rather than the payer's — your guest, client or family member is collected at the given address in Messe Frankfurt. Payment and the receipt stay with you. Add the passenger's flight number and mobile so flight tracking and contact both work.

Who is the service for?

Every passenger is welcome — regardless of background, gender, identity or orientation. Our drivers are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly: couples, families of every shape, women travelling alone and guests who need assistance are driven with exactly the same matter-of-factness as anyone else. Discretion is part of a chauffeur service in any case.

How does free cancellation work?

Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the agreed pickup time. After that a cancellation fee may apply; at the pickup address in Messe Frankfurt 15 minutes of waiting are included, and each further quarter hour is charged at the rate stated in the terms.
