The route from Bayreuth to Frankfurt Airport
Bayreuth lies around 274 kilometres from Frankfurt Airport, roughly three hours of driving. The car leaves Upper Franconia westwards on the A 70 towards Bamberg, with the Fichtelgebirge behind it.
Around Bamberg and Kitzingen the route continues onto the A 3, which runs through the Franconian wine country past Würzburg and over the Spessart into the Rhine-Main area. You only leave the motorway at the airport exit.
Pickup at your Bayreuth address
The driver collects you wherever you prefer in Bayreuth: the town centre near the opera house and the pedestrian streets, St. Georgen, the university campus or a hotel close to the Green Hill. You get the driver's name and registration in advance.
For early departures out of Frankfurt the distance means a pickup deep in the night, and we drive at any hour. Once the luggage is loaded, the journey runs through to the terminal with no change.
Arriving at the departure terminal
At Frankfurt Airport the car stops on the departures level of Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, depending on your airline. The driver unloads and points you to the right entrance for your check-in desks.
Frankfurt is the nearest intercontinental hub for Upper Franconia, so travelling by road saves the feeder flight that a connection via Nuremberg would require. From the kerb to security is a walk of only a few minutes.
Bayreuth – Wagner's town and a margravial residence
Bayreuth is an independent city in Upper Franconia of around 73,000 people, known worldwide for the Richard Wagner Festival, staged since 1876 in the purpose-built Festspielhaus on the Green Hill. Every summer it draws audiences from across the world, many of them routed through Frankfurt.
Its margravial heritage is older still: the Margravial Opera House, a Baroque tiered-box theatre by Giuseppe Galli Bibiena, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Eremitage with its New Palace and water features sits on the eastern edge of town. A university, a deep brewing tradition and the nearby Franconian Switzerland and Fichtelgebirge hills complete the picture.
Tips for the run to Frankfurt
During the festival season in July and August, hotels and streets around the Green Hill are heavily used; give as precise a pickup point as you can in that period so the car does not get stuck in arriving festival traffic. For late-morning flights we build in extra slack.
In winter the higher ground between Bayreuth and Bamberg can be considerably more slippery than the Main valley, so we deliberately set the pickup earlier. Flight number and terminal belong in the booking.

Transfer, taxi or train from Bayreuth?
A taxi from Bayreuth runs the 274 kilometres to Frankfurt on the meter, long empty return to Upper Franconia included. Rail from Bayreuth always involves a change, usually at Nuremberg, plus fixed departure times and, at the other end, the walk with luggage from the long-distance station through the concourse into the terminal. A rental car ties you to a fuel receipt, a return desk and three hours of driving yourself, rarely the best preparation for a long-haul flight. The fixed-price transfer waits outside your door in Bayreuth, runs through to the departures level without a change and stays at the amount confirmed at booking.

When to set off from Bayreuth
For the 274 km to Frankfurt your driver allows around 180 minutes of actual driving plus roughly 35 minutes of buffer for rush hour, roadworks and the terminal approach. To make a Schengen flight, that means leaving Bayreuth about 5 h 35 min before departure; for long-haul and non-Schengen, about 6 h 35 min.
You do not have to do that arithmetic yourself. Enter your departure time and address and the booking form proposes the pickup time — driving time, buffer and terminal lead are already inside it. If you would rather leave earlier, overwrite the suggestion.
In the other direction the arithmetic disappears anyway: for an airport pickup the time hangs on your flight number, not the clock. Your driver tracks the actual landing, and 60 minutes of waiting from touchdown are included.
What the price covers on this route
The fixed price for Bayreuth – Frankfurt Airport covers all 274 km, plus tolls and road charges en route, the airport access and short-stay parking at pickup. What you pay is settled before you book — there is no meter and no surcharge that only appears as you get out.
The price is independent of the clock as well. The same route costs the same at three in the morning as on a Wednesday afternoon, the same on public holidays as on working days, and there is no demand surcharge during trade fairs. The only things that move it are ones you choose: a stop along the way, a larger vehicle class, or the return leg.
Every passenger is welcome — regardless of background, gender, identity or orientation; our drivers are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly. Pets travel when the species and size are noted at booking, and guide and assistance dogs with no notice and no surcharge.

The drive from Bayreuth to Frankfurt Airport takes about 180 minutes for 274 km in normal traffic. Your driver adds roughly 35 minutes of buffer for rush hour and roadworks.
How early should I leave Bayreuth for Frankfurt Airport?
Leave Bayreuth about 5 h 35 min before departure for a Schengen flight, or about 6 h 35 min for long-haul. That is 180 minutes of driving, 35 minutes of traffic buffer and 2 or 3 hours at the terminal. The booking form proposes the pickup time for you.
How much is a transfer from Bayreuth to Frankfurt Airport?
The fixed price for the 274 km route is shown in the booking form before you book and never changes afterwards — regardless of traffic, time of day, weekday or how long the drive actually takes. It depends on the vehicle class and the distance, not on a meter.
What does the fixed price include?
It covers the 274 km drive, tolls and road charges en route, airport fees, and 15 minutes of waiting at the pickup address in Bayreuth. The price only moves for things you choose yourself — a stop along the way, a larger vehicle class or a return leg — and each is shown in the form before you confirm.
Does the ride cost more at night or on public holidays?
The fixed price applies whatever the clock says: Bayreuth – Frankfurt Airport costs the same at three in the morning as on a Wednesday afternoon. There is no night, weekend or holiday surcharge, and no demand pricing during trade fairs. Booking and driving run 24/7.
How much luggage fits in each vehicle?
The sedan classes take 4 large suitcases plus 2 cabin bags; the Business Van takes 12 suitcases plus 5 cabin bags for up to 8 passengers. Declare oversized items such as skis, a golf bag or a pushchair when booking so the right class is dispatched.
Is this a taxi or a chauffeur service?
This is a chauffeur service: the journey is booked in advance, the price is fixed before you book and no meter runs. Your driver wears a suit, greets you by name and helps with the luggage — in the Business and First Class categories it is a limousine service with a Mercedes E- or S-Class. You hail a taxi at a rank; a chauffeur is booked to the minute in Bayreuth. That makes the transfer the fixed-price alternative to a Frankfurt Airport taxi for Bayreuth.
Transfer or train from Bayreuth?
The train is cheaper per person, the transfer per vehicle — with two travellers and luggage the comparison usually flips. The transfer covers the 274 km in about 180 minutes with no changes and ends at your address rather than a station; travelling alone with hand luggage and a good connection, the train is often the better call.
Can I travel with a dog or a cat?
Pets are welcome. State the species and size when booking so the right vehicle class is dispatched for Bayreuth — small animals travel in a carrier in the footwell, larger dogs in the load area of a van. Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel in every vehicle, with no advance notice and no surcharge.
Can I pay the driver by card?
Card payment is accepted directly in the vehicle — as is cash or paying online in advance, and business customers can be invoiced. You receive a receipt with VAT shown either way.
Can I travel with an infant or child seat?
A child seat, booster or infant carrier is selected during booking and fitted by the driver before pickup. State the child's age so the correct size group is installed.
Can I book this transfer for someone else?
The booking runs in the passenger's name rather than the payer's — your guest, client or family member is collected at the given address in Bayreuth. Payment and the receipt stay with you. Add the passenger's flight number and mobile so flight tracking and contact both work.
Who is the service for?
Every passenger is welcome — regardless of background, gender, identity or orientation. Our drivers are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly: couples, families of every shape, women travelling alone and guests who need assistance are driven with exactly the same matter-of-factness as anyone else. Discretion is part of a chauffeur service in any case.
How does free cancellation work?
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the agreed pickup time. After that a cancellation fee may apply; at the pickup address in Bayreuth 15 minutes of waiting are included, and each further quarter hour is charged at the rate stated in the terms.
